Liquid Tree Outdoor

Liquid tree absolutely does not want to replace the beauty of our trees, but to help them and us to feel better. The more trees and the more liquid trees there are, the more benefits there will be for our health.

Feel better and help our planet

Space-Efficient Green Lungs for Urban Areas

An ecological and compatible solution, in a very small space: the city squares are filled with LIQUID TREE® MICROALGAEX®  capable of capturing CO2 equal to that absorbed by at least thirty tall trees. The culture broth is then used to produce biomethane.

The system effectively contributes to mitigation efforts for cities against global climate change.

Breathe Easier with MicroAlgaeX

The Liquid Tree harnesses the natural power of microalgae to capture CO2 emissions in a compact, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing design. Each Liquid Tree is capable of absorbing as much CO2 as fifty tall trees, providing the environmental benefits of a sprawling green space in just 6.25 square meters.

Where Trees Can't Reach

Urban landscapes often present challenges for traditional tree planting, such as unsuitable soil, root difficulties, or maintenance issues. The Liquid Tree is designed to thrive in these environments, bringing the gift of clean air to places where trees simply cannot be planted. By integrating seamlessly into existing urban furniture, the Liquid Tree transforms public spaces into oxygen-rich environments for all to enjoy.

Low Maintenance, High Impact

With minimal maintenance requirements, the Liquid Tree is an accessible solution for cities seeking to reduce air pollution and enhance the well-being of their inhabitants. The liquid tree’s culture broth even doubles as a source for biomethane production, further contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

Biomethane: A Sustainable Byproduct

In addition to purifying the air, the microalgae within the Liquid Tree produce biomethane, a natural gas with various applications, such as heating cities. This sustainable byproduct highlights the Liquid Tree’s commitment to not only improving air quality but also promoting a greener, more eco-friendly future.

Harnessing the Power of Microalgae

The Science Behind the Liquid Tree

The secret behind the Liquid Tree’s incredible air-purifying ability lies in the microalgae’s unique biological properties. These unicellular organisms contain chloroplasts, allowing them to utilize light as an energy source and convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through the process of photosynthesis.

Microalgae are mixotrophs, meaning they can feed through both autotrophy (light absorption) and heterotrophy (organic matter absorption). This adaptability allows them to double their biomass every day, making them a powerful ally in the fight against air pollution.

To maximize the growth and efficiency of the microalgae, a row of electroluminescent LEDs with a specific and optimized light spectrum is placed inside the Liquid Tree. This innovative lighting solution provides the algae with the energy they need to thrive and purify the surrounding air.

The Liquid Tree’s bioreactor occupies a mere 6.25 square meters but boasts the CO2 capturing capacity of 50 tall trees. The column consists of a 4-meter-high and 1-meter-wide reservoir filled with water, creating a luminous aquarium-like environment teeming with microalgae.

THE LIQUID FOREST

The Carbon Farm

Carbon removal can take many forms. There are nature-based removals that fall within nature-based solutions  (NBS), such as the restoration of forests and fragile marine and coastal habitats (blue carbon), and carbon management in agricultural soils, grasslands and grasslands – projects that provide socio-economic and biodiversity benefits, as well as climate benefits. While essential, NBS alone is not sufficient to remove the high amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere in order to limit global warming to the 1.5°C threshold set by the Paris Agreement.

Our method of removing CO2 is to grow, dry and bury microalgae (as a biofertilizer, for example). MICROALGAEX® has been working in recent years on the development of a modular and industrial microalgae-based process to undertake carbon capture and storage from the ecosystem. The MICROALGAEX® CTRX is a natural , efficient, sustainable, economical, and non-invasive bio-technological removal solution in the environment, which accelerates the natural processes of carbon removal. Housed in a 20″ container, the CTRX system is transportable, cost-effective, scalable, and immediately functional

MICROALGAEX® CTRX has a carbon removal efficiency of 87% – 89%. It is therefore clear that CTRX could contribute significantly to the carbon removal needed to combat climate change.
